When importing into Pipedrive, Deal stage is matched by name using combination of Stage and Pipeline. In order to set the correct Deal Stage during the import, we are looking at the following: 

  1. We look up Pipeline by name, if not found we use default Pipeline. 

  2. Then we try to find a Stage in the Pipeline which name matches Deal Stage. 

Please make sure Deal Stages and Pipelines are set up prior to import. If we dont find matching Deal Stages/Pipelines, deals import will fail and you will receive a validation error. We will provide you with the complete list of errors post-import by email, and you may also find the summary of the errors on your import page in real-time as your import is in process. Once validation error is fixed and  Deal Stages/Pipelines created we retry records and import failed ones.
